Graduation...

Hello everyone! What's going on in your world?  Are you finding any time to create?  Not if you have a son or daughter graduating, I'm sure!  Today I'd like to make life a little bit easier for you and show you two graduation cards that I created.  I don't have a graduate this year...sigh of relief, but I was asked to make a couple of card...ENJOY!!!

Both of my graduation cards were made with the Large Number Framelit Dies which are going away today...SADLY they will not be in the new catalog!  I cut my numbers out of Dazzling Diamond and Red Glimmer paper...neither of these are in the new catalog either!  I used the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits to cut the word CONGRATS from Silver Foil paper.  The card base for this card is Whisper White with a 4" X 5 1/4" Basic Black piece of cardstock that is embossed with Oh My Stars embossing folder. The Real Red strip is embossed with the same folder. I added a few Rhinestones to bling it up a bit!

My second graduation card also has a Whisper White base with a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock that is embossed with one of the Petal Pair embossing folders (there are two different ones).  The numbers on both cards are attached with Mini Dimensionals.  The YOU on this card is cut using the Celebrate You Thinlits.  I stamped CELEBRATE with the Beautiful You stamp set.  I tied Bakers Twine around a number on each card...one is Basic Black and the other is Silver & White.

That's it for today!  THANKS BUNCHES for stopping by!  Have a WONDERFUL rest of your day!  Be calm...things will get done!

Rooted In Nature

Hello and how are you today? I hope all is well and life is going smoothly for you all!  It's been such a beautiful day here...but very busy.  I had a DOTK meeting to plan our next month event, I had to meet with my pastor so he could sign June's birthday and anniversary cards, I had to meet with the church secretary (and friend) about updating our church directory and I had to mow my mother-in-laws grass...but before I could do anything I HAD TO WATER MY FLOWERS!  Now...I have time to blog!  I need to get on a better schedule...somehow!

Today's card is a card that we made in my Shascade Disabled Adult class yesterday.  First, we had BIRTHDAY cake and then it was time to create!  I know I've told you a few times now that I thought I was giving something back to my community by providing this class to these folks but I have received so much more from them!  They LOVE to create!  They were SUPER excited because I had a box full of things for them to create with at the program (that's what they call their building).  I can't wait to see what they make!

This card is created with the Rooted in Nature stamp set.  I was able to pre-order it as a demonstrator...it's in the NEW CATALOG and it's a BEAUTIFUL set!  My card base is Basic Black with a Crumb Cake Layer that is embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder.  Next I inked up a 2 1/2" X 4" piece of Whisper White cardstock with my Sponge Brayers, Pool Party ink and Mossy Meadow ink.  I stamped the tree image in Basic Black ink.  It is layered onto a 2 5/8" X 4 1/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock and then onto a 2 3/4" X 4 1/4" piece of Basic Black cardstock.  The sentiment (from the same stamp set) is stamped in Memento Black ink onto a piece of Wood Textures designer paper that I also tied a piece of Black Bakers Twine around.

I have to tell you this group LOVES to color and they LOVE learning all the different ways they can color!  They've used the Brayers now, Stampin' Blends, Watercolor Pencils, Stampin' Write Markers, AquaPainters and Brushos...they REALLY LOVE the Brusho's...I need to get them a set!  Next month I think I'll introduce them to the possibilities of Blender Pens!

Anyway...that's it for today!  THANKS so much for stopping by to see what's up at Scrap Happens Here with Darla!  Have a FANTASTIC day!

Tuesday’s Tip - Waterfront Series - American Flag

Good morning everyone! Happy Monday and Memorial Day!  Did you know that Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day and that it started after the Civil War to honor the union and confederate dead.  Although we enjoy an extra day off of work, it's more than just a three day weekend.  It's a day of remembrance for all those who have died serving in the American armed forces.

Today is Monday, but I want to share my last Waterfront Tuesday's Tip!  You'll understand why when you watch the video!  Have a wonderful day and take a moment to remember!

Here's a still of the card and the envelope.  The card base is Whisper White. The stamped image is a 3 3/4" X 5" piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock.  After stamping I adhered it to a 3 7/8" X 5 1/8" piece of Silver Foil paper. Next I adhered it to a 4" X 5 1/4"  Basic Black cardstock and then to the Whisper White card base!

I used the Loyal & True stamp set to stamp the soldier onto the flag as well as the sentiment onto another piece of Silver Foil paper. The sentiment is heat embossed with black embossing powder. I then used the Everyday Label Punch to cut it out and knotted a piece of 1/8" Silver Ribbon behind the sentiment and attached to the card with dimensional.  I also stamped the flap of the envelope.

I LOVE how it turned out!  I LOVE all thing patriotic, so this was especially fun for me to create!  I hope you'll give it a try!

Thanks for stopping by!  I be back tomorrow with a FUN "Make-It Monday" lol!
ENJOY your day!

Thoughts of You...

Hello my paper crafting friends!  GOSH...it's raining cats and dogs here today!  I was only expecting shower...it's in the low 60's, CHILLY, but it's gonna be in the 90's on Monday!  Gotta LOVE the 30 degree weather change in three days!  How is it in your neck of the woods?  I hope you all have FUN family and friend plans for the weekend.  Our home group is BBQ'ing on Monday but the rest o the weekend is just RELAXING and hopefully CREATING!

Today's card is simple and clean with a POP of color!  I LOVE that Stampin' UP! has brought back Coastal Cabana...it's a great color and couples beautifully with the Calypso Coral in this card.  I haven't used my Polka Dots embossing folder in a while so I dusted it off and used it to create the background of this card. The sentiment, which is from the Best Birds stamp set is stamped on Wood Texture designer paper that I cut into a circle with the Stitched Shapes framelits!  I LOVE stamping on this designer paper.  The lovely flowers are from the Petal Palette stamp set and cut out with Petals and More framelits.  I finished it off with some ribbon and linen thread. This is one that I took to Olson's Stoneware in town...I hope it sells!

Hey...THANKS A TON for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful holiday weekend!  Be sure to thank all the veterans in your life...and thank them for me!  We are blessed with many freedoms because of their sacrifices!!

Petal Palette Happy Birthday

Hello and Happy Thursday!  YAY!  It's almost a long weekend!  SUPER EXCITED about that...no plans, but EXCITED!  What will you all be doing for the Memorial Day weekend?  I hope you have lots of FUN things planned...be sure and stay SAFE!  Our weekend starts tomorrow because our school has a snow day scheduled.  As much as I LOVE it when it snows, I'm always happy when we don't use all of our snow days and have a four day weekend with my husband and children!

I have a BEAUTIFUL card to share with you today...I had FUN making it!

The card base is Whisper White with a Whisper White  4" X 5 1/4" layer that I embossed with the Scattered Sequins Embossing Folder.  I finally remembered to order a new one after my daughter broke the first one. I used my Stampin' Write Markers to color the stamp from Petal Palette, stamped it and cut it out using the Petals and More framelits. The colors I chose are Old Olive, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry. After stamping them I colored them with my Stampin' Blend Markers...the same colors. Next, I cut a circle from Wood Texture designer paper using the Stitched Shapes framelits and stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Best Birds stamp set. Before I attached the embossed layer (with dimensional) to my card base I tied a piece of Winter White Organza Ribbon into a bow around it.  I tied a bow around the bow with Linen Thread. I LOVE this card!  I did one similar to it a while back, but I needed this one to have a sentiment!  I LOVE that I get to do this every day!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I love sharing my creations with other paper lovers!  You have a FANTASTIC day!  I'm off to mop the floor...my daughter spilled an entire pitcher of Country Time Lemonade and it's a STICKY MESS!!  UGHH!!!

Wedding Wishes

Hello everyone!  Gosh, I'm late today!  It's been a busy day! I hope your day has been wonderful!!! Do you ever find yourself saying...if I can just get through this day, this project, this week...life will slow down and life will be simpler?  I find myself saying that all the time...but it never happens.  I often wonder if it will when the last of my kids graduate and go on to college or trade schools.  I wonder if I will just have a new kind of busy?  I think that just might be the case because I like to be busy but I also enjoy a little down time!  Last night I had some of that down time and I watched The Last Ride with my daughter.  What a great love story...not quite as good as The Notebook (my FAVORITE), but it was really good.  We giggled and we cried...and I did have to fast forward through a couple of scenes, but it was a nice relaxing and enjoyable evening! I hope you find a little bit of that down time too...time to refresh your body, mind and spirit! I really think it's a necessity!

Today I took some cards that I made into a local store...Olson's Stoneware.  It's a super fun store with all kinds of groovy things...I love to go in and just look!  Well...they are gonna sell my cards in there and I am SUPER excited!  I took an assortment of cards in, birthday, thinking of you, Father's Day, graduation, wedding...17 in all.  I'd like to share one of the cards I created this morning to take in!

This lovely wedding card has a Whisper White card base.  The first layer is Smoky Slate and measures 4 1/8" X 5 3/8".  The next layer is Thick Whisper White cardstock measuring 4" X 5 1/4" and is embossed with the floral Petal Pair embossing folders.  I wrapped a piece of Whisper White ribbon (tying a bow) around both of the layered pieces and adhered it to my cardbase with dimensionals. Next I cut a circle in Whisper White using my Stitched Shapes framelits and stamped the sentiment with the Floral Phrases stamp set.  Last I added three sets of flowers from the Bouquet Bunch framelits and added some Pearl Basic Jewels!  Didn't it turn out pretty?

I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but it says "May your love grow stronger, deeper, and more beautiful with every passing year"...also from the Floral Phrases stamp set!

Well..that's it for today.  I'll be sharing other creations with you as the days continue on so be sure to stop back by!  THANKS BUNCHES for taking a peek today!

Meditating today on slowing down enough to enjoy the good things. Just tapping the brakes a bit. Giving a smile to the security guard. Saying hello to the mailman. Spending 5 seconds to pet the neighbor's dog. Noticing all the new buds on the rose bush. It's a wonderful world, if you slow down long enough to notice. It's what I am thinking about today.♥ ~~ Houston Foodlovers Book Club

Tuesday’s Tip - Waterfront Series - Tropical Moonlight

Good Morning everyone!  Do you ever find in life that some days are smoother than others?  Yesterday was one of those days and I was so very grateful!  I spent the morning cleaning house because we had home group last night (well...we were suppose to but it ended up being cancelled but not until 4:00pm) but the house is clean.  I finished just in time to get Adam & Kate to go to hair appointments...but Adam couldn't go because he got a call for a job interview.  I picked Kate up from school and dropped her off at the salon, picked Adam up from school and took him to his interview.  We prayed together for calmness before he went in and that he'd get the job. Kate called...she was finished, went to pick her up, stopped at store for a snack, but Adam called and he was finished.  This all happened in 30 minutes.  Adam got the job...YAY!!! Kate got a haircut, Adam did too after all...our stylist called and she was able to move an appointment up and move him down!  Another REALLY cool thing was that I already had dinner made and ready to cook....it was DELICIOUS, a new recipe for Chicken Cordon Bleu!  I LOVE it when LIFE JUST WORKS OUT....and I AM GRATEFUL!

Well...it's time for Tuesday's Tip! I hope you enjoy this tutorial.  It's one of my favorite cards!  I have one more Waterfront video ready for next week then I have some other fun things to share with you!  BE INSPIRED!!

Here's the actual card! Isn't it BEAUTIFUL??  I LOVE IT!!

My Basic Black card base  is 8 1/2" X 5 1/2".  The stamped image is a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Shimmery White cardstock.  After stamping I adhered it to a 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" Whisper White cardstock and then to the Basic Black card base! To finish it up, I brushed Clear Wink of Stella over the ocean to make it sparkle even more!

It's such a BEAUTIFUL card, I hope you'll give it a try!  If you enjoyed the video please share it with your friends so they can enjoy it to and hopefully be inspired to create!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a WONDERFUL day...I hope life goes smoothly for you today!!!
