Tuesday's Tip - Smooching Technique

Hello there! I'm hoping all is well in your neck of the woods! I'm SUPER busy getting ready for three classes and OnStage and I'm LOVING every minute of it!  I LOVE being out in my workshop CREATING!!  I have a FUN video to share with you today that will teach you how to smooch... so PUCKER UP!!

Here is one of the cards I created using this technique! It has a Whisper White card base with a Night of Navy 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" layer. Next is the Watercolor paper layer that I did my SMOOCHING on. It measures 4" X 5 1/4".  Last I used the Bethlehem Edgelit Dies to cut the scene from Silver Foil paper and I added some Basic Rhinestones to the night sky...for a little more sparkle!

My second card uses the same SMOOCHING technique but White Glossy paper is used instead! My card base is Whisper White with a 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" piece of Night of Navy cardstock. My next layer is Island Indigo and measures 3 7/8" X 5 1/8" and my SMOOCHED layer is White Glossy Paper and measure 3 3/4" X 5".  Mary, Joseph and the star are cut with the same Bethlehem Edgelit Dies, also from Silver Foil paper. Again, I added a few Basic Rhinestones to make the night sky sparkle.

Bethlehem Edgelit Dies

I really LOVE this technique and can't wait to use it on other cards! SO MANY POSSIBILITIES! I hope my video INSPIRES  you to do a little SMOOCHING!! I'm so glad I get to share what I love to do...WITH YOU!!! Thanks for stopping by!

"Make-It Monday" Large Letters Eclipse

Good Morning and HELLO Monday! Are you ready for your week? I woke up in a panic at 2am this morning thinking of all the things I have to finish before going to OnStage next week...so the first thing I did was make a list. It's funny how making a list calms the brain and allows you to go back to sleep!

I'm heading down the mountain today to go grocery shopping and to drop in to a dear friends annual jewelry party...then there is home group tonight.  That means I won't have time to get out into my shop to work on my OnStage projects, but they are written down on my list...and I have nine more days until I leave.  I also have a class to prepare for this Wednesday evening...always flying by the seat of my pants!

I have a GORGEOUS "Make-It Monday" to share with you today!  BE INSPIRED!

All Things Cat from SoShelli

Good Morning and HAPPY WEEKEND! ENJOY every minute of it!! I'm heading out to my workshop to get started on my November classes...and swaps for Onstage which is in less than two weeks...I'm so EXCITED!

I quickly want to share this adorable gift box that Shelli (Co-Founder of Stampin' Up!) shared on her blog...it is SO CUTE!

I'm not a total cat person...I don't have one anymore...my allergies flair up when I'm around them...I haven't even purchased this punch but I thought this goody box was too cute not to share!

I LOVE how Shelli stamped the flowers on the Whisper White cardstock then mounted the Scalloped Circle with the cat punched out over it using dimensionals!

Here's a link to Shelli's blog so you can read the story of why she created this adorable gift box!

...and now I'm re-thinking the CAT punch!

TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY
...that is the question!!

Hey...thanks for stopping by today!  ENJOY your weekend and CARVE out a moment to CREATE!!!

Flower Shop - Use EVERY stamp challenge

Hey there! How's your day going? Mine has been kind of crazy! My husband had to go to Sacramento today so he took my customer orders down the mountain for me...they arrived late last night so I still needed to bag them up before he left.  Then I had a hair appointment...that was RELAXING, thank goodness, then I had to run a bunch of errands and get my neighbors laundry going. What I thought would be a day of CREATING....quickly turned into something else. Life just happens sometimes!

Remember that challenge I mentioned yesterday! Today I want to share the card that I created for the USE EVERY STAMP in the set challenge!

The stamp set that I chose for this challenge is Flower Shop. My card base is Whisper White, layer one is Calypso Coral and measures 4" X 5 1/4", the second layer is Whisper White and measures 3 3/4" X 5". I stamped four of the flowers onto this second layer in Calypso Coral ink.  I cut a stitched circle with the Stitched Shapes framelits and stamped a flower off the edge. I also stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment which is from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.

I stamped another flower on Whisper White cardstock and used my Pansy punch to cut it out and added it to my stitched circle with dimensionals. Last I added a bow tied with Linen Thread!

Oh...I almost forgot! I stamped the envelope too...see it in the bottom right corner of the photo!

I sure hope you enjoyed my project today and I hope you'll find time to create today (or this weekend)!  Thanks BUNCHES for following along as I share what I love to do!

Floral Statements Thank You!

Hello there and how are you! It's that CRAZY time of year here in Northern California where we're ready to put away our summer clothes and get our winter clothes out....but we just can't quite do it yet! It's a nippy 38 degrees here this morning but it's suppose to be a BEAUTIFUL 83 degrees this afternoon! So our dilemma around here is how many layers do we wear and do we build a fire or turn the heater on in the morning! We are up in elevation just a bit from town (we only live two miles out)...but that has been enough all week that when I take kids to school we get to see the clouds from above...so actually, the fog is socked-in down in town! It's amazing how beautiful it is! I'm gonna enjoy this day...hoping you do too!

I just finished a seven day challenge in a team Facebook group...everyday there was a different challenge. One day the challenge was to use our oldest (but current stamp)...mine was Lovely as a Tree.  One day the challenge was to use our newest (and current) stamp set. Another was to use our BIGGEST stamp set and another was to use ALL of the stamps in a set.

Today's card was Day #7 and the challenge was to create a card and MAIL it! I make a lot of cards. I make cards for my classes.  I make cards for church and mail them out...but I RARELY make cards and send them out from me. So...because of this challenge...I have a new goal! I'm gonna try to make a card and mail one out once a week! If you'd like to help me with this goal...and would like me to send you a card leave a comment, email me your mailing address or message me on Facebook and I'll pop one in the mail to you! I've been wanting to get on the ball about sending cards for a long time. It's kind of an oxymoron to be a card maker but not a card sender...perhaps I'm just a CARD HOARDER!

Today's card has a Whisper White card base. The first layer of Basic Black is 4" X 5 1/4", next layer of  Calypso Coral is 3 7/8" X  5 1/8" and last, my stamped layer of Whisper White is 3 3/4" X 5". The image I stamped is from the Floral Statements stamp sets. I stamped it in Memento Black ink and colored it with my Stampin' Blends! They will be available for customers to purchase on November 1st and you are going to LOVE them! I'm so EXCITED that Stampin' Up found another...better manufacturer to provide them! I LOVE mine!
To finish it off I added some Calypso Coral Ombre Ribbon, Basic Black Bakers Twine, Linen Thread and a Corrugate Element with a White Perfect Accent.

I really like how it turned out! I hope the special friend that I sent it to ENJOY's it!

Well..that's all for today!  Now I have TWO goals...send cards and use all of my stamp sets! These are GOOD GOALS!!

Thanks SO VERY MUCH for stopping by today! I LOVE sharing what I LOVE doing...with you!! I hope you have a wonderful day and that you find just a moment to create!

Pick-a-Pumpkin

Good Morning! I hope you have a lovely day today! I'm SUPER excited because I have a couple of girlfriends coming over to play in my workshop with me today! I LOVE spending time with these ladies! Friends are such a TREASURE...I am truly blessed!

Back in September (the 18th to be exact), I shared a "Make-It Monday" with you! Today's card is another take on that card!

My card base is Whisper White and the first layer is a 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" piece of Early Espresso cardstock.  Next is a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in the top left corner using the Basket Full of Wishes stamp set. I added a 1" x 5 1/4" piece of Coffee Break designer paper to the side of the card front. I also FINALLY used my Year of Cheer designer washi tape...that's it on the bottom of the card! I definitely need to use it some more! I used my Copper Embossing powder to stamp the leaves with the Pick-a-Pumpkin stamp set. The leaves and pumpkins are cut using the Patterned Pumpkins framlits with Silver and Copper Foil Sheets! It was a FUN card to create...a little rustic (with that linen thread) and a bit of elegance with the foil paper and washi tape! I hope you'll give it a try!

I wanted to remind all my customers and followers that I am offering a free gift with a $50 purchase (before tax and shipping) this month! I will send you...along with the cards we made at my October classes your choice of Clear Faceted Gems or Gold Faceted Gems. Shoot me an email at  scraphappenshere@gmail.com with your choice. If you spend $100 (before tax and shipping) choose two...and so on!  You also qualify for Darla Daisies for every $50 purchase (see details about my loyalty program at the top of this blog)!

Hey...thanks BUNCHES for stopping by today!  Have a WONDERFUL Wednesday...try to find just one thing to be joyful about and take just a moment to create!!

Tuesday's Tip - Rock -n- Roll Technique

Good Morning everyone! Here we are, blessed with another day...and boy is it BEAUTIFUL!!! The fall colors seem extra vibrant this year! A dear friend recently got back from a trip back east which included lots of fun adventures...one of which was to see the fall colors. Turns out, she didn't have to travel that far because we've got it going on here this year!!!

Well...speaking of FALL colors, I have a FALL card to share with you today. First I have a video which shows a FUN stamping technique that I hope you will try! ENJOY!!

I know it's an old technique, but those old techniques are often forgotten and not used so I had to share!

Here is the card that I created using this technique! The base is Cajun Craze with a 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" Very Vanilla layer and then a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Painted Autumn designer paper. Stamp the leaf image onto a piece of 3" X 3" piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Cajun Craze and Peeaboo Peach ink and the Rock-n-Roll technique. Mount it to a 3 1/8" X 3 1/8" piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and then to the card using dimensonals. Use the Leaflet Framelits to cut two leaves, one in Lemon Lime Twist and one from vellum and glue to the stamped image. Just a dot where you plan on putting the Jute Twine works perfectly and it won't be seen through the vellum.  Last thing is the Jute Twine...cut about a 1 1/2 inch piece and tie it in a knot, then use your piercing tool to fray the threads...I love that look!

Well..that's it for today! THANKS BUNCHES for joining me for Tuesday's Tip! I'd love to see what you create using this technique! You can add a photo and a comment at the bottom of this post!

Have a FANTASTIC day! ENJOY those fall colors!!!

"Make-It Monday" - Hello Friend

Good Morning and HAPPY MONDAY! Did you have a FANTASTIC weekend? I sure hope so! It went TOO FAST didn't it?!?!  Mine was a bit busy...I had a class on Saturday and my sister-in-law was here for a visit...we didn't get a hike in this time, but it's always great to see her and Maureen. She brought a delicious Spaghetti Squash casserole that we had with dinner one night! I LOVE spaghetti squash! Maureen made us a yummy pumpkin pie with fresh whipping cream! Did you know that it's best to make your whipping cream in a chilled, metal bowl? SO...it was a weekend of eating...hahaha and I enjoyed every bite!  Today I have lots of appointments...I have to set some things up for both of my brother's trust, meet with a guy about putting heating and air into my workshop and hopefully my soon to be bunkhouse and another guy is coming to give a quote for adding insulation to the attic of the bunkhouse!  I'm so excited to be moving forward...a bit!

I have a "Make-It Monday" to share with you today...it's from my up-upline, Stella McKay!

Merry Music - JOY

Good Morning everyone! Here we are Friday again! Hope you all have FUN plans for the weekend!  Things are gonna be pretty calm around here and I am so happy!  I have a class to teach Saturday morning and plan on going on a hike with my sister-in-law (unless it's pouring rain)...and that's all the plans I have! Today, however, I have to go down the mountain...AGAIN...for an orthodontist appointment.  I was thinking I had the entire day to myself today...but then I got the reminder call! My plans changed quickly...hahaha!

I have a fun card to share with you today! I'm sure you have been seeing all the CUTE cards made with the Large Letters Framelits. I just got them last week and here is my first creation!
The card base is Whisper White and the first layer is a 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" piece of Smokey Slate cardstock. The background is from the Merry Music Specialty paper pack. The word JOY is cut with the Large Letters framelits. I cut three (3) of each letter and used Multipurpose glue to layer them one on top of the other. Next, I used MINI dimensionals (LOVE THESE) to add them to the bottom of my card.  I tied a piece of Real Red 1/8" Ribbon around the "O" after it was mounted onto the card. I find that addding the ribbon after the letter is attached to the card base is MUCH EASIER than adding it before you attach it!

This card is SIMPLE yet I think it's really BEAUTIFUL!  You can add some bling if you like, but I just wanted to keep it simple. I bought a bunch of this designer paper so I think I'll make several more of these cards!!

Well...THANK YOU VERY MUCH for stopping by today! Have I told you lately that I LOVE sharing what I create with you!! I hope you have a FANTASTIC weekend...ENJOY every minute of it...and find just a bit of time to CREATE!!!
