Embossing Paste - Tic Tac Toe Challenge

Happy Friday everyone! I'm sitting alone in my home...it's quite...it's strange! I've decided that I think I like a bit of chaos! The kids will be home soon and the husband too...and life will be back to normal! Some days I really enjoy the quite and my time to myself...today, not so much. I wonder why...what makes it different....SOMETHING TO PONDER!!

Remember a while back I talked about the Tic Tac Toe Challenge my Up-upline was having on our team Facebook page? I have lots of projects from that to share with you...well nine total anyway!!

For today's card the challenge was to use Embossing Paste...so I did! My card base is Whisper White with at layer of Basic Black (4 1/8" X 5 3/8"). Next I used my brick wall mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks set and spread my embossing paste thinly onto a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Pool Party cardstock. Once it was dry I adhered a stitched circle cut with the Stitched Shapes framelits from Merry Little Christmas designer paper. I cut two trees from vellum using the Card Front Builder thinlits...oh how I LOVE these trees! They are glued together at the top (hidden by the star) and at the bottom (hidden by the bows). I put two together because one was just too transparent.  The ADORABLE little stars in the top right corner are from the Patterned Pumpkins thinlits. They were left over from a pumpkin I cut out! They are just PERFECT up there in that corner!!! The star on the tree is cut with the Starlight Thinlits from Silver Foil sheets. The bows are made from Linen Thread and Silver 1/8" ribbon. I really LOVE how it turned out...not traditional at all...but I LOVE it!

I'll be sharing more of the Tic Tac Toe projects over the next couple of weeks and I have a World Card Making class on Saturday, October 7th so I'll be sharing those projects with you as well!  We'll be making 20 cards...four of five different designs! I'm SUPER EXCITED!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Join me again for more FUN ideas to INSPIRE your CREATIVITY!!!

In the City - Tic Tac Toe Challenge

Good morning friends! I hope all is well with you! I am wiped out! I went to Boot Camp EARLY this morning (5am) and it was such a HARD workout I came home...soaked in the tub...took kids to school...came home and went back to bed! I've decided I need a HOT TUB!

I'm up and going now and have a FUN project to share with you today, it's from the Tic Tac Toe Challenge from my UP-Upline! The challenge was to use a hostess set!

This card is created with the In the City hostess stamp set and the Wood Words stamp set.

The card base is Whisper White cardstock with the first layer being a piece of 4" X 5 1/4" Crumb Cake cardstock. My next layer is a 3 3/4" X 5" piece of Whisper White cardstock. I cut a Scallop Square in Cajun Craze using the Layering Squares framelits and then a stitched square using my Stitched Shapes framelits in Whisper White.

I stamped my images in Memento Black and then two-step stamped them in Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Crumb Cake (the house). I sponged the background in Pool Party ink and Old Olive ink. I LOVE the clean and simple look with a bit of FALL flavor! I hope you'll try it!

Reminder...there are THREE DAYS LEFT OF DOUBLE DARLA DAISIES!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I know I've said it a thousand times...but I really do LOVE SHARING WHAT I LOVE TO DO...WITH YOU!!!

Have a FANTASTIC DAY! I have some house cleaning to do and a volleyball game to attend...hoping I get out to CREATE today and I hope you find the time as well!!

Every Good Wish

Good Morning Everyone! A HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who helped me reach my goal this month! I made it to $100,000 total in sales (since I became a demonstrator in November of 2010) this past Monday evening!!! I didn't even know that I was close, but my up-up-line let me know! Because I made it I'll be getting a $1000.00 bonus and recognition of some sort at OnStage in Salt Lake when I go in November!! This is BIG for me as I'm not really great at the business part of SU...I LOVE the CREATING part!!! I'm excited to be growing in that area!

ANYWAYS...you still have through September 30th to get DOUBLE DAISIES for your orders of $50 or more before tax and shipping!  If you don't know about my DAISY program look above and you'll see Darla Daisies Loyalty Program...click on that for complete info or email me with any questions!

Today I want to share one last project from my September classes!!

At my classes they had the option of making one of these two cards created with the Every Good Wish stamp set.

My card base is Whisper White. The stamped card stock is also Whisper White, but before I stamped I used my Simply Scored board to score the "strings" that my snowflakes are hanging from (a really FUN idea for birthday cards too)!! The snowflakes are cut using the Seasonal Tags framelits and each have a Clear Faceted Gem in the middle.  The sentiment is stamped in Pool Party ink with the Every Good Wish stamp set! I LOVE this clean and simple look!!!

I threw this card out as an option...they were able to choose which card they made.  Both are with the same stamp set!  I thought of this totally last minute or I would have had the paper cut for them to do both...instead I went to bed as it was 11:30 at night!

Well..that's it for today!  THANKS BUNCHES for stopping by and THANKS EVEN MORE for helping me reach my goal!

Have a TERRIFIC DAY!!!

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set: Brightly Lit Christmas Bundle (Brightly Lit Christmas stamp set + Christmas Lamppost Thinlits Dies 146040)
  • Card stock & paper: Cherry Cobbler (119685), Daffodil Delight (119683), Basic Black (121045), Whisper White (100730), Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper (135315)
  • Stampin’ Pad: Cherry Cobbler 126966), Garden Green (126973)
  • Miscellaneous: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (143263), Magnetic Platform (130658), Embossing Paste (141979), Palette Knives (142808), Pattern Party Decorative Masks (144103), SNAIL Adhesive (104332), Tear & Tape (138995), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (144108), and Paper Snips (103579)

Measurements:
  • Whisper White: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2 then folded to create card base; 3-3/4” x 5” plus scraps about 1” x 1”, 1-1/2” x 1-1/2” and 1-1/2” x 2-1/2”
  • Cherry Cobbler: 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper: 3-3/4” x 1”
  • Daffodil Delight: 3 scraps about ¾” x ¾”
  • Basic Black: scraps about 1” x 5”, 2” x 2” and 2” x 1”

Instructions:
  1. Position the brick mask over the 3-3/4” x 5” piece of Whisper White card stock and quickly but carefully apply Embossing Paste with a palette knife to cover and fill the brick openings. Use a swiping and gentle scraping motion to move the paste quickly. Take care to hold the mask in place. Once all holes filled and all excess paste has been scraped off the mask, carefully lift the mask from the card stock. Wash mask and palette knife immediately with warm soapy water. Set aside the brick wall piece to dry.
  2. Using Garden Green ink on a Whisper White scrap, stamp the wreath.
  3. Using Cherry Cobbler, stamp the ornaments/berries on the wreath then stamp the banner sentiment and wreath bow on the two remaining Whisper White scraps.
  4. Die cut wreath, bow, and banner. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere bow to wreath. Set aside to dry.
  5. Using Basic Black card stock, die cut the lamppost, light fixture, and banner pole.
  6. Using Paper Snips, hand-cut three Daffodil Delight “lights” that you will adhere to the back of the lamps with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  7. Adhere banner to black flag pole using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  8. The lamppost in the sample image is 4-5/8” tall so, with that in mind, position how high to adhere the light fixture to the lamppost so yours is close to that height and do so using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Set aside to dry.
  9. In the meantime, apply a few drops of Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the back of the wreath and get the tip of the black flag pole into the glue. Allow to dry.
  10. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue glue wreath to lamppost taking care that flag pole is extending away from it in a straight right angle. Set aside to dry.
  11. Using Paper Snips, trim the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper to create a wavy carpet of snow.
  12. Adhere white brick piece to Cherry Cobbler layer with SNAIL then that piece to the card base, also with SNAIL.
  13. Adhere snow piece to white brick with Tear & Tape.
  14. Affix Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals behind all lamps, where wreath meets lamppost, at base, behind banner and then using your Paper Snips, trim a very narrow edge of your Dimensionals border to adhere to the narrowest portion of the lamppost. Remove all backing and carefully align onto white brick piece. Do not press Dimensionals until you are sure you have the right placement.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you'll get a chance to CREATE today! Have FUN and come back tomorrow for Tuesday's Tip!!!

Sunflower FUN with Eastern Medallion & Eclectic Layers

Good Morning! Here we are...Friday again! Boy this week went fast...this month has gone by fast...heck...this YEAR has gone by FAST! You know...there are only 94 days until Christmas!! Are you ready? I'm not! I need to get started on my cards!!!

Well..I'm heading down the mountain to go to the Social Security office! My husband needs a replacement social security card so he can get his passport and I have to get my mom's 2016 tax form so her taxes can be done. It's so overwhelming to me all the things that have to be done to finalize an estate. There have been days when I just put it away and don't think about it. Anyways...I'm hoping things go smoothly and we'll get our grocery shopping done as well!

My card today has a Whisper White card base with a 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" piece of Crumb Cake cardstock on top. I cut a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock, cut the design out with the Eclectic Layers thinlits and embossed it with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder. (Do the cutting first because your embossing will be flattened if you make the cut second...ask me how I know!!)

The sunflower is made with the Eastern Medallion thinlits. Cut two, distress them with Early Espresso ink and layer them together with adhesive. I attached the sunflower to the Cherry Cobbler layer with dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped onto a small circle cut with the Stitched Shapes framelits.  The leaves are punched with the Leaf Punch and the center of the sunflower is a 2" Early Espresso circle that is embossed with the Sweetheart embossing folder. The great thing about this card is it can be mailed with a standard stamp! I LOVE the look of the sunflower with the Cherry Cobbler Pinewood Planks...it's very country!

Have I told you lately, how much I LOVE sharing what I create with you!?!? Thanks BUNCHES for joining me each day and allowing me to INSPIRE you!

Have a FABULOUS weekend!!! May you find just a moment to CREATE!!

Painted Harvest

Hello! How's everything going today? I just got home from work and wanted to post another project from my workshop! It was a FABULOUS workshop...16 ladies joined me for a FUN time of CREATING!! I always have a wonderful time with these gals...they are always so encouraging, love what we make...oh and we had Kahlua Cake...DELICIOUS!!!

Here's another card we made...it's one of my favorites because each one turns out unique! The card base is Early Espresso with the first mat in a piece of 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" Whisper White cardstock. Next is a piece of Wood Textures designer paper measuring 4" X 5 1/4". Cut a 2 3/4" X 2 3/4" piece of Glossy White paper and use the Painted Harvest stamp set to stamp the leaves and flowers. The colors used on this card are Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Garden Green and Early Espresso. I also used my Early Espresso Stampin' Write marker to add dots to the centers of my flowers. The stamped image is matted onto a 2 7/8" X 2 7/8" piece of Basic Black cardstock and then onto a 3" X 3" piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I added some Crushed Curry Ribbon, some greenery and a Touches of Nature embellishment to the front of the card as well. I stamped a partial flower on the inside of the card...but forgot to take a photo...SORRY! It really did turn out BEAUTIFULLY and it's a PERFECT card for the first day of fall!

Hey...thanks so much for stopping by today and allowing me to share another creation with you...it makes me so HAPPY!!! Have a WONDERFUL rest of your day!

DON'T FORGET ABOUT DOUBLE DARLA DAISIES FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER!!!

Winter Wonder

Good Morning Everyone! I'm heading down the mountain for my workshop in Redding today and they are calling for HOUR LONG waits due to road work....UGH!! That's just part of mountain living I guess!  Real quick I want to share one of the projects we're going to make today!

I LOVE the new Winter Wonder embossing folder and wanted to make it the center of my card! I embossed on a piece of 4" X 5 1/4" Thick Whisper White cardstock. I stamped my sentiment which is from the Star of Light stamp set, in Cherry Cobbler ink. Next I mounted it onto a piece or 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" Real Red cardstock. Before adhering it to my Whisper White card base, I tied a piece 1/8" Real Red solid ribbon into a bow around the embossed thick cardstock. I added some Pearl Basic Jewels to finish it off.  I LOVE the simplicity of this card!  I hope you'll give it a try!

Well...I'm gonna run now! Have a FANTASTIC day and THANKS BUNCHES for stopping by today! I hope you find just a moment to CREATE today!

Tuesday's Tip - Folded Flap Box and Tic Tac Toe Challenge

Hello everyone! I'm busy getting ready for my class this week and I'm dog sitting my son's ADORABLE English Bulldogs...Clyde and Chester!

I've never been a HUGE dog lover...I didn't grow up with a dog. We did have a Deer Chihuahua named Fawn, but she died when I was very young and we never got another one! Of course we've let our kids have dogs...but they were never trained...I had too many babies to train a dog! ANYWAYS...these guys have STOLEN my heart! They have the CUTEST personalities and are so FUN to watch play and to play with! I'm HOOKED!!!

Of course I adore my BEAUTIFUL yellow Lab Millie and my other son's Bracco Italiano, Ella too!

Ok...sorry...I got SIDETRACKED!

Here's today's video! ENJOY your Tuesday's Tip! I used this project for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge that my UP-Upline has going on our team facebook page. The challenge was to use a Mini Gift Bow

Here are just a few  HOW TO reminders from the video!

Score one side of your 6" X 6" paper at 1 3/8", 2 3/4", 4 1/8" and 5 1/2"

Turn your paper to the left and score it at 1 3/8", 4 1/8" and 5 1/2"

Fold on the scored lines, cut side tabs, bottom tabs and top tabs to look like this. Round your corners of your flap using a corner rounder or your Envelope Punch Board...put it together an decorate!

Here's the FINISHED project...SUPER CUTE!!
A close ups shows that I added some Copper Trim, Linen Thread, a Year of Cheer Embellishment, Mini Gift Bow and a snowflake cut using the Seasonal Tags framelits and topped with a Clear Faceted Gem. The tag sentiment is from the Hang You Stock stamp set (Annual Catalog) and is stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with Copper Stampin' Emboss Power.

"Make-It Monday" - Pick a Pumpkin Thanksgiving Card

Good Morning...good morning...good morning! It's a BEAUTIFUL morning and I'm so grateful for the cooler weather! I LOVE FALL...have I mentioned that? It's my FAVORITE season!!

This weekend was a BUSY weekend! I went to Sacramento on Saturday to celebrate my son Trevor and son-in-law Andy's becoming Journeymen Power Linemen! It's been five years of hard work physically and mentally! I'm so proud of them both! My son from Phoenix flew in to surprise both of them too...it was so great to see him.  We celebrated at a trendy restaurant in old town...great food, fun atmosphere...fantastic night!  We had to drive home that night because my husband was on call Sunday and another son, Seth was moving to Trinidad.  Got home about midnight, slept til 6:00am then on the road again! He's a fabricator for the Blue Lake Mill which they are rebuilding (kind of) and getting it ready to re-open in a year or two. He's a very talented welder...if I could only get him to work on my yard art projects!  I rode over to Trinidad with him...he bought a 34' trailer because he couldn't find a house to rent in the area that would accept two ADORABLE English Bulldogs (which I totally understand). We got him settled in a really BEAUTIFUL park then came home to celebrate Adam's 15th birthday with Captain Crunch Chicken, Sweet Potato Fries, Salad and homemade honey mustard! It was a CRAZY BUSY weekend, but I had a BLAST seeing and spending time with my family!!

Today I have another "Make-It Monday" to share with you! It's a FALL card so be INSPIRED and find time to CREATE!!

Painted Harvest, Petal Burst and Layered Leaves - Tic Tac Toe Challenge

Good Morning!  OH GOLLY...FALL is in the air and I am so excited...albeit COLD...it's only 41 degrees this morning! I LOVE this time of year!!

I want to take a moment to thank those of you who have placed orders this month and are getting DOUBLE your Darla Daisies! I SO APPRECIATE that you are helping me make my goal!

This month with my SU Team Facebook group our fearless leader gave us a FUN challenge! We're playing Tic Tac Toe and today I want to share one of the cards I created for that challenge!

One of the challenges was to use an embossing folder...so I used TWO!

My card base is Whisper White, with a 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" piece of Basic Black cardstock. Next I embossed a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Old Olive cardstock using the Petal Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The square is created using a 3 1/8" X 3 1/8" piece of Basic Black cardstock with a 3" X 3" piece of embossed Whisper White cardstock.  It is embossed with the Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

I used the Painted Harvest stamp set to stamp a sunflower in the corner of a 1" X 1" piece of Whisper White cardstock. I stamped with Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso inks.  I used my Stampin' Write Early Espresso marker to add dots to the center of the sunflower. My stamped image is matted onto a 1 1/8" X 1 1/8" piece of Basic Black cardstock.  I attached both squares to the card using dimensionals.  Before I added the stamped image, I adhered some Linen Thread and Basic Black Bakers Twine to the back. I really love how it turned out! I giggled, blushed and smiled when one of my teammates said it should be in a gallery! My group is SO ENCOURAGING!

Here's a look at the Tic Tac Toe game we are playing!  It's been kind of a FUN place to start for ideas!

Hey...have a FABULOUS weekend! I'll be celebrating Adam's 15th birthday and my oldest son and son-in-law becoming Journeyman Power Linemen! Lots of festivities...but definitely time for creating too!

As always...THANKS BUNCHES for stopping by! I love sharing what I do...with you!
