Graduation THANK YOU

Good Morning!  I have a quick simple card to post today!  I didn't go on a hike yesterday...going today instead...so I had time to play in my workshop.  Mostly I worked on things for my upcoming retreat (I'll show you during or after the retreat!).  I also made thank you notes for my daughters graduation gifts and scholarships.  My boys just bought cards...but Becca...she wanted homemade cards....and OF COURSE....I was thrilled!  I have to make 40 of them so I needed quick and simple!

For the card base (4 1/4 X 11) I used Certainly Celery (retired...but I had a whole pack to use).  For a workshop I would use Old Olive ore Pear Pizzazz.  I cut a mat of Whisper White 4 X 5 1/4 and used the Pansy punch to punch the flower.  I adhered the Tangerine Tango designer paper to the back and mounted it on the card base.  A simple thank you stamp with some Linen Thread finished it off.  I think for the rest of them I will punch the thank you out with the small oval punch...then it will look like a leaf.  I added a Early Espresso center to the flower and added a pearl....that's it ...EASY...QUICK and ADORABLE!!! My daughter LOVED IT!!!

Make it a habit to tell people thank you.  To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return.  Truly appreciate those around you and you will soon find many others around you.  Truly appreciate life, and you will find that you have more of it!

Weekly Deals

Good Morning everyone!  It's a beautiful day!  I had a wonderful weekend bike riding around Lake Almanor with my husband at their 32nd Annual Mile High Ride!  It was BEAUTIFUL!   I had never been there...but I can say with CONFIDENCE that I WILL BE BACK!  (hehe...I sound like the TERMINATOR!)

This is the view from the deck of the house we rented!  It was GORGEOUS!
I had so much fun...but I didn't do any creating!

Watching the  STUNNING sunset from the dock...yes the house had it's own dock.  Wish we had a boat.  We want to go back and take our inflatable kayaks.

I'm off this morning to take my younger kids on a hike to a couple of Alpine Lakes in the Trinity Alps, there are over 100 lakes here and it is on my bucket list to make it to all of them!  I do want  to share the weekly deals with you though...and I'll be back tomorrow with some new creation!

 Have a TERRIFIC DAY!

Too Kind

Good Morning!  I'm leaving early today to go to Lake Almanor to do a bike ride with my husband and sister-n-laws!  It is a 56 miler....my bum might be a tad bit sore!

Today I have a card that I made for the Retro Sketches challenge.  I have had it in my mind to do a card with three square across...and then I saw this challenge...SORRY it's WATERMELONS again...I have honestly had this in my mind for quite awhile so this sketch challenge is PERFECT!

Here is the sketch and a link to http://retrosketches.blogspot.com/

Isn't it a great sketch?  Here is my card!  Hope you LOVE it!!!

The colors I chose for this summery, fun card are Baked Brown Sugar, Strawberry Slush, Old Olive, Whisper White, Basic Black, Early Espresso and Daffodil Delight.  The Designer Paper is from the In Color 2013-2015 Paper Stack.  I used the 1 1/4" square punch to make three black squares, the 1" square punch to make three white squares and the 1", 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches to make the watermelon slices.  The sentiment is from the Too Kind stamp set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar on Whisper White cardstock.  I then cut it with the new Project Life Cards and Lables framelits.  I cut it out again in Baked Brown Sugar, cut it in half lengthwise and backed the sentiment with it (on top and bottom).  The flowers are made with the Boho Blossoms punch.

This view really shows off  the sentiment and the details.  I first adhered a piece of 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon to the card (just the designer paper and Whisper Whited cardstock), then I added a piece of Natural 5/8" Chevron Ribbon, tied a double bow around it with Linen Thread.  It gives it a real EARTHLY look...kinda SHABBY CHIC...minus the lace...dang it...I could have added some Venetian Crochet Trim....if only my order was here already!  I added some curled strips of paper under a button and tied a bow in the button with Bakers Twine.  I added the candy dots to hide a spot of black that appeared out of nowhere!  ONLY ONE BLACK DOT...but I had to make the candy dots look right!  I LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT!

Let this be a lesson to you!!!

THERE ARE NO MISTAKES.....
ONLY OPPORTUNITIES TO EMBELLISH!!!

Patriotic

HELLO...HELLO...HELLO!!! Yesterday I saw a challenge using the colors Real Red, Whisper White and Night of Navy!  I LOVE being patriotic so I decided I wanted to participate!  When I went out to my workshop...to my dismay...I found that I do not own ONE PATRIOTIC stamp set!  I couldn't believe it...not one...and I REALLY wanted to participate in this challenge. Here is the challenge and a link to the site http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/

and here is my card.....

To start, I made my card base Whisper White with a layer of Real Red on top.  All of the action on the card is on the Night of Navy layer.  I just ordered the Star framelits, but they haven't arrived yet, but I did pre-order the Eclectic paper piercing template set and had it right there!!! THANK GOODNESS!!
I decided to use my Whisper White Bakers Twine to stitch the stars after I pierced them.  I LOVE stitching on scrapbook pages, but hardly ever do it on cards, BUT I WILL NOW!!! LOVE IT!

I originally had a red glimmer paper star in the middle of the star (on top)...but during the night I dreamed about putting it under the Night of Navy...so I changed it first thing when I woke up this morning....EVEN before I made the kids breakfast!  The new colors of glimmer paper are FANTASTIC!

I chose to use the Starburst Sayings stamp set because of what it says!  Those who serve, those who have served and their families really do make the world a better place and I wanted to say THANK  YOU!  I heat embossed the sentiments with white embossing powder onto Night of Navy cardstock and then cut them out with the Starburst framelits.  The stars are  from the Circle Card framelit.

...the inside of the card...a bit of cuteness...but plenty of room to write a note!!

Have a FANTASTIC DAY!!!

Weekly Deals and Workshop Card

Good Day to you all!  Today I am sharing a card I made at my workshop last night!  We made a couple of my watermelon projects from last week, but I needed one more card.  I loved yesterdays card and wanted to share it with my ladies, but I really wanted Becca's card to be unique so I changed it up by using a different sentiment AND...I added a slice of WATERMELON!

I also decided to enter into a "ANYTHING GOES BIRTHDAY" challenge at http://seizethebirthday.blogspot.com/

I love it as a birthday card.  The sentiment is from Sassy Salutations and fit just perfectly on the tag!  I used the Boho Blossom punch, the Bird Builder Punch and the
1 1/4",  1 3/8" and 1 3/4" for the watermelon slice.  I was able to make six slices out of one circle of watermelon layers!  I think it adds a cute little touch!  I also changed up the seeds by making them out of the leaves from the Bird Builder punch...when I punched out the bird in Basic Black.  The other colors I used are Strawberry Slush, Old Olive, So Saffron, Early Espresso and Whisper White.  I really like the clean, easy layout....GIVE IT A TRY!

Here are you weekly deals....don't forget you get FREE goodies from me when you order from my online store or join my team!

I will send you three free projects for every $50 spent at my online store and if you join my team I will send you your choice of a free pack of designer paper!

Here is a close up to show you the details!  Isn't it adorable?!  I think my daughter will love it!!!

Honorable Mention

Good morning everyone!   I hope you had a WONDERFUL WEEKEND!  Mine was so busy...but VERY FUN!  Friday I had a brunch for my daughters graduation and Friday night was graduation.  All of my kids made it home for the event, grandma was here and a couple of favorite aunts!   Saturday was the Tournament of Champions for my sons UNDEFEATED Little League team...they lost, but it was a great game!  I was worried they would get blown away because they played a team from a bigger town, but they held their own....it was FUN to watch!  Sunday was our team party and boy was it hot!  To top it off...I had an order for 14 cards on my Etsy account (my daughter set it up for me...she is just certain people will want to buy my cards...I LOVE HER SO!!), so in between visiting, parties and games I made cards so I can put them in the mail this morning!

Needless to say...I do not have a new project to share!  I do have some exciting news to share though!  Remember my first watermelon card I made last week?  I entered it in the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge....I was awarded HONORABLE MENTION!  I was VERY EXCITED!

So with this card...I won this HONORABLE MENTION BADGE!!!

DON'T FORGET!!!

Anyone PLACING a $50.00 order through my online store will receive three projects of your choice that I create this week.  You can choose three of the same project, three different projects or any combination of THREE....FREE!!  If you order  $100.00 you can choose six projects!

Watermelon week comes to an end!

Today I am sharing another cute little box I made using a free template that I found here...  http://www.donteatthepaste.com/2010/05/cake-box-for-all-of-you.html

The box was simple to make, but I must admit that I had a hard time figuring out how to cover it to make it look like a watermelon...of course I was still working on it at midnight last night!  This morning I woke up fresh and realized all I needed to do was shrink the template and print it on Whisper White cardstock and shrink it again and print it on Melon Mambo cardstock!  That would have made it much easier ...instead I traced and cut and trimmed....until I got it right.  So the FIRST thing you need to do is print the template (original size) on Old Olive cardstock.  I am happy with how it turned out....but I am THRILLED that I thought of an easier way to finish it!

Tonight my daughter, Rebecca, graduates from high school.  All of her brothers and sisters will be her and she is having a brunch this morning for some of her DEAREST friends...the call themselves "old geezers"...they bring so much love and wisdom to her life and she brings so much love and joy to theirs...What a blessing this group of 60 and up folks are to me....all that to say...I GOTTA GO GET READY FOR THE BRUNCH!  Have a great day!  I'll see ya again SOON!

Q: What do you call fruit that commits egregious crimes?

A: a waterfelon.

Watermelon Basket for WATERMELON WEEK

Today's project is an adorable little watermelon basket!  I took the time to figure out how to bring it all together last night and I LOVE how it turned out! I think it would be so cute filled with pink and green JELLY BELLIES...when I go down the mountain I'm gonna grab some....

The colors I used are Strawberry Slush, Pistachio Pudding, Almost Artichoke, So Saffron, Whisper White and Early Espresso!  I made a basic box 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored it in the landscape position at 1 1/2" and 4", turned it to the portrait position and scored it at 1 1/2" and 3".  The watermelon slices cover the box and were made using the three largest circles in the Circle framelit collection.  The flowers were made with the Boho Blossom Punch, the greenery was made with the Bird Builder Punch and the seeds were made with the heart on the Owl Builder Punch.

A close up of the flowers shows two watermelon blossoms and a sunflower!  I LOVE sunflowers and watermelons together so I just had to add one...it just SHOUTS SUMMER!

The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  I love how the Thick Bakers Twine frays!  I tied a little bow of Linen Thread to finish it off.  Those little details add a lot...but not to much!

DID YOU KNOW?

         A watermelon is 92% water?

Watermelon...Healthy & Delicious. Every Day.
DON'T FORGET......If you spend $50.00 (before tax and shipping) at my online store.....you can pick three of this weeks projects (all the same or all different...any combo of three) and I will pop them in the mail them to you

Wednesday's Watermelon Card

Good Morning everyone!  It's a BEAUTIFUL day here in Trinity County!  I am truly blessed to live among such beauty!  This week is such a busy week!  My daughter, Rebecca, is graduating this Friday!!!  Beck's is my fifth child to graduate...you would think I'd have it down by now....but I'm filling a little melancholy!  Thank goodness...playing in my workshop always brightens my day!

Today I am sharing a birthday card I made for my sister-in-law....her birthday is tomorrow.  I hope you are enjoying my WATERMELON WEEK!!!

For this card I changed my color scheme!  I used Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, Whisper White and Basic Black.  I love these colors just as much as the Old Olive and Melon Mambo!

I used the Stripes embossing folder for the background (SORRY...I didn't realize it is retired...I NEED TO MARK MY STUFF!).

Again I used the Kind & Cozy stamp set for the watermelon.  Instead of stamping the center with the circle stamp (save it...I almost threw it away), I sponged the center with Strawberry Slush ink.  I cut it out with the 2 1/2" Circle punch, cut it in half and then into six wedges!  I added one to the inside, but forgot to take a picture...and now it is in the mail.  Use the small heart in the Owl Builder punch for the seeds!

The sentiment is from the Gifts of Kindness stamp set and I punched it out with the Word Window punch.  I love the new Thick Bakers Twine.  It looks adorable with the button from the Neutrals Designer Buttons pack.  This card came together really quickly one I came up with a plan...give it a go!

DID YOU KNOW???
There are over 1,200 varieties of watermelon grown worldwide?
