OH Christmas Tree

Good Morning friends!  I hope you had a WONDERFUL weekend!  I'm sorry I missed yesterday...I was getting ready for my workshop last night!  My plan was to get ready on Saturday after getting our tree, but we had such a great time hunting for the perfect tree, playing in the snow, drinking hot chocolate...I just didn't want it to end so we watched The Grinch as a family and a couple of other movies...it was WONDERFUL family time!  I was glad I already had a plan...I just had to do the cutting yesterday!

Today I have a FABULOUS project to share with you!  You all know that I love to make Burlap Twine out of my Burlap Ribbon by taking it apart. I had bunches of the left over pieces so I decided to make a Christmas tree out of it...I had to dye it green first though...so I put it in a bowl of water with 50-60 drops of green ink (I used Garden Green) and let it soak over night.  The next morning I laid the scraps on a piece of cardboard to dry. It drie really quickly and within a a couple of hours I was able to put it together!

I just love it!  My daughter, Kate, came in after school yesterday and just went crazy....mom...I LOVE IT!  It was so simple!  Once I dyed the ribbon remnants I just glued it around a cone shaped styrofoam base and fluffed it up!  I added a Glimmer paper star that I cut with my star framelits and tied a bow from Real Red 1/4" cotton ribbon.

Kate loved it plain, but I had to try one decorated up a bit so I wrapped some of the Real Red Pompom trim around it!  It's so FESTIVE!  So don't throw away your scraps!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I know that it is such a busy time of year...it makes me happy to know that you take the time to see what I'm up to!

Here we are getting our tree...in the snow! It was a beautiful day!!  It sure was weird with only two kids at home...but oh so much FUN!

Christmas Tags

Good morning friends!  I hope all is well with you and yours!  Did you have a FABULOUS weekend?  Are you ready for Christmas?  Have you even started? YIKES....it's a crazy life sometimes!  I had to have a root canal last week because I had a fistula...because I let a tooth go playing the insurance game last year...I should have just taken care of it right away!  LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE!!! Don't put off until a new insurance year what needs to be done RIGHT NOW!  Oh well...LESSON LEARNED...again the hard way...and the expensive way!  Yesterday...I was back at my regular dentist getting a temporary bridge...I feel sick to my stomach...why...WHY...WHY didn't I just have it done right the first time?   Today I have JURY DUTY...and I haven't even started my Christmas shopping, put up my tree or made my cards! Do you ever feel like LIFE IS OUT OF YOUR CONTROL?

On a good note...my husband and I had dinner with my daughter Sarah, her fiance Andy and his parents Saturday night.  YEP...we met the new in-laws...and they are GREAT FUN!  I can't wait to  spend more time with them and getting to know them better!  The wedding is in June...SO EXCITING!  We are all so excited about it!

....enough about me...I have some Christmas tags to share with you!  Last night myself and other members of my Stamper For Others team had a tag themed Facebook Hop...and these are what I created.  I love making tags and couldn't stop at just one, so I have a few to share with you!

I stamped the wreath in VersaMark with the Festive Fireplace stamp set and cut it out with the Festive Fireside Framelits (along with a Whisper White cat).  I ran a 2" X 4" piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock through my Big Shot using the Brick Wall embossing folder.  I added some pearls and bows to the wreath, some Chevron striped ribbon to the top and a bow I cut with the same framelits to the cat, along with a metal rimmed pearl.  I also inked the bricks with Whisper White ink and the cat with Soft Suede ink. I really like the cat addition!

This tag was made using the Wonderland stamp set and the watercolor technique I shared a week or so back.  I inked up my watercolor paper using my Aqua Painters with Lost Lagoon and Mossy Meadow ink.  While still wet I shook Kosher salt on top...set it aside and let it dry. When it was dry, I shook off the salt and stamped my image in Memento Black ink and matted it onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I used the Scalloped Tag Topper punch, added some ribbon, twine and a wooden snowflake to finish it off.  BEAUTIFUL!!!

This tag comes together so quickly and uses just scraps of designer paper and glimmer paper.  I simply cut 1/4" strips of designer paper into different lengths and adhered them to a piece of tag size Crumb Cake cardstock.  I added a trunk made from Early Espresso cardstock and ran through my Big Shot using the Woodgrain embossing folder.  To finish it off I punched 1/2" and 3/4" circles and two different sized stars out of glimmer paper...add some ribbon to the top and you are FINISHED.  So simple...so cute!

That's it for today!  Please bear with me...my computer is really acting up!  I hope to be back tomorrow with another FUN project so stay tuned!

Have a TERRIFIC TUESDAY!!!

Fry Box Elf

Good morning everyone!  I hope your day is going well!  I'm a little frazzled!  This post was ready to go...and I deleted it...I blew a fuse and didn't know it for half an hour so now my gravy for the soup kitchen isn't thick...YIKES!!!  ...and I just saw that my post from yesterday never posted!  BREATHE!!!

Now I'm gonna try again and hopefully you'll get two posts today!

Last night a friend posted this cute creation on Facebook for me to see...

Wonderland Woodland

Hey there crafty friends!  I hope you had a FANTASTIC week!  Are you ready for your Thanksgiving celebration coming up?  I'd LOVE to hear some of your traditions...so post them below if you have time!

I have another card that we made at my workshop this month!  It is made with the Woodland embossing folder and the Wonderland stamp set!  It is so easy to make and BEAUTIFUL too!  To make this card you simply stamp Soft Sky onto your embossing folder (the side with sissix printed on it).  Ink it all over with the actual stamp pad.  Then you ink up your trees in Old Olive and stamp directly on top of the Soft Sky.  Place your piece of Whisper White card stock on top (high enough so the tops of the trees show) and run it through your Big Shot!

It is so EASY and so PRETTY!  I added some glitter ribbon and linen thread to finish it off.  I also stamped some trees on the inside of the card but AGAIN forgot to take a photo...EPIC FAIL....SORRY!!  I hope you will give this technique a try...you'll be hooked...and there are SO MANY different embossing folders you could use!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  ENJOY your weekend! I hope you find some time to RELAX....CREATE...and JUST BREATHE!!

Wonderland

Hello there friends!  I'm on my way home from my workshop...stuck in roadwork and thought I'd share a card we made today!
I love this technique!  You simply brush a piece in of watercolor paper with water and ink.  I used Lost Lagoon and Mossy Meadow.   Then you sprinkle it with Kosher salt and let it dry.  After it dries simply brush the salt off and stamp the tree image in Memento black ink!  It's a BEAUTIFUL effect!

I added some texture to the front of the card with the Decorative Dots embossing folder and some lace. The sentiment is from the Reason for the Season stamp set and the Iced Rhinestone finishes it off with a bit of elegance! I LOVE IT...and hope you do too!

That's it for today!  It was a PACKED and WONDERFUL class...such a GREAT group of gals that bear with me through all of my HOT FLASHES!!

Peaceful Wreath

Good Tuesday Morning to you all! It's another BEAUTIFUL day...we have some snow on our mountains (which we haven't had in a long time)...it's gorgeous!!

I had a workshop last night and I want to share one of the cards that we made! It's simplicity makes it wonderful!  I hope you agree!
To make this card I dry embossed a 3 3/4" X  5" piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock using the Brick Wall embossing folder.  Next I stamped the wreath from the Peaceful Wreath stamp set on Mossy Meadow card stock using VersaMark.  I stamped the bow with Soft Suede ink onto Crumb Cake card stock.  I cut both the wreath and the bow with the Wonderful Wreath framelits.  I added some Basic Pearls to the wreath to give it some elegance!  I tied a bow with a piece of White Jute twine and added it to the Crumb Cake card stock bow.  Isn't it a lovely card?!  I also used the Versatile Christmas stamp set for a sentiment inside of the card (but I forgot to take a picture).  I layered Cherry Cobbler and White card stock inside and stamped Merry Christmas in Soft Suede Ink!

Remember I told you I went to my old churches bazaar last Saturday...here's one of my finds!

It's funny...I just started a horseshoe board on Pinterest (this is on it), I texted my son and told him I want to learn to weld (he's a welder, but he's in North Carolina) and I want to take a class at the city college down in Redding.  Then I went to the bazaar and found a project that I wanted to make!  I LOVE IT!!!  There is a REALLY COOL Christmas tree on my Pinterest board...I REALLY need to learn to weld!

Well...that's all I have for you today! I have a workshop down in Redding tomorrow so I might be late in posting...UNLESS...I'm totally on the ball....BUT you all know that I fly by the seat of my pants...I guess time will tell...lol!
