Broadway Birthday Cupcake Box!

Good Morning ya'll!  Hope you're having a great day! I just had a guy here blowing insulation into our garage.  Since I have taken over the workshop for classes and soon retreats again, my husband wanted the garage to be warmer (and cooler) for him!  They were in and out in less 30 minutes!  I'm super excited for the hubby!

You might know (if you follow me on Facebook) that my daughter makes cupcakes once a week to sell at one of our local coffee shops!  Well...a friend wanted a Carrot Cake cupcake for her daughter-in-law for her birthday and my daughter wanted a cute box to put it in!  Here's what we both came up with!

My daughter made a jumbo cupcake so I had to make a bigger box than I normally make. Sadly, I didn't write down my measurements so I have to recreate it!  I'll do this after Christmas and share the new project with the measurements...I think it will make a good Tuesday's Tip video!  

Unfortunately, I cannot get you a cupcake either...well, unless you live in Weaverville or Redding!  

Here's what I used the Broadway Birthday designer paper, Real Red & Basic Black cardstock and the Happy Birthday Thinlit Die.

Masculine Cards...Simple and Festive

Hey there everyone!  I hope you're having a FANTASTIC day!  I'm watching it rain...listening to music from back in the day and blogging!  What could be better?  I had a great class yesterday down in Redding!  Such a great group of friends!  Here are two of the cards that we made, both make great masculine cards and come together quickly! 

The Whisper White card base measures 5 1/2" X 8 1/2".  The Basic Black layer is 4 1/8" X 5 1/8" and is embossed with the Corrugated Embossing Folder!  Use the Touches of Texture stamp set to stamp on the Stitched Circle with Slate Gray ink.  Cut another circle from Basic Black cardstock, emboss it with the Subtle embossing folder and attach it to the stamped circle.  The sentiment is cut with the Happy Birthday Thinlit from Galvanized Metallic paper and attached with multi-purpose glue.  Last I added a couple of Clear Epoxy Droplets.

This second card uses a Gold Foil Edge card base (with matching gold foil edged envelope).  Cut a 3 3/4" X 5" piece of Merry Merlot cardstock for your first layer. Next, use the Winter Woods stamp set and Granite Gray ink to stamp the trees onto a 3 1/2" X 4 3/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock (or choose Shimmery White cardstock for some sparkle). Before attaching it to the card base tie a bow with the Merry Merlot & Copper reversible ribbon.   Simply BEAUTIFUL!!!

Tuesday's Tip - Big Shot Embossing Mats...what not to do!

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all well!  We are on the mend!  Kate actually worked with her horse a bit today...she was exhausted afterward and is resting, but its a step in the right direction!  

Well...it's Tuedsay, and you know what that mean, it's time for Tuesday's Tip!

Happy Birthday - Big Shot Embossing Mats

Hello everyone!  Happy Thursday!  I hope you are all well!  I have a bit up a tummy ache this morning...ughh!  Hope it passes soon! I'm gonna quickly blog so I can go lay down for a bit! 

Here's a FUN card I made for Manly Monday...a challenge we do on a team Facebook page.  I used the Happy Birthday Thinlit along with the new Big Shot Embossing Mats!  These mats are COOL and a great addition to the Big Shot.  They turn framelits and thinlits into embossing folders!  I also used the Striped Scallops embossing folder on the Coastal Cabana background piece of cardstock.  The balloons are punched with the Balloon Bouquet punch from Basic Black cardstock and Share What You Love designer paper! The colors are Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Old Olive and Basic Black.  Super cute and super easy card to make!

Happy Father's Day (Masculine) - Facebook Hop with Rooted in Nature & Thoughtful Banners

Hey there everyone! What's up today? I can tell you what's up here...it's Facebook Hop time again!  Our theme this month is Father's Day or Masculine and there are 10 of us participating so you'll get lots of ideas! Be sure to go to my Facebook page at 5:00pm tonight to start the hop and be inspired!

Here is the card I created for the hop. My card base is Early Espresso and measures 5 1/2" X 8 1/2".  The first layer is Whisper White and measures 4 1/8" X 5 3/8".  The top layer is Early Espresso and I embossed it with the Pinewood Plank embossing folder.  It measures 4" X 5 1/4".  I used the Rooted in Nature stamp set for the tree, the Happy Birthday Thinlit for the word HAPPY (I just cut it away from BIRTHDAY...saving it for another card!). The FATHER'S DAY sentiment is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set! I tied some Black Baker's Twine around the sentiment and some White Baker's Twine through two True Gentleman buttons and frayed the ends just for fun!  I know your wondering about the circle behind the sentiment....keep scrolling!

I did some weaving with the Wood Textures designer paper by cutting two different designs into 3/4" X 6" strips. It's a FUN technique but does take some time so be patient! The result is totally worth it!

Here is what I was able to cut from two 6" X 6" pieces of paper!  I used my Layered Circle Framelits.  I think they're really cool!!

Now...don't neglect the inside of your card!  I just stamped some more trees with the Rooted in Nature stamp set. I used Shaded Spruce ink for the inside and the outside trees.

I really love how it turned out and hope you do too!

Happy Birthday....FUN!!!

HI Everyone!  OH...SNAP!!! I promised I would have a new project yesterday and then I didn't share it!  LIFE just got in the way! I worked at both of my part-time jobs. I thought I'd be home by noon, but didn't get home until 4pm...then kids were home...they were fighting...we were fighting because I was mad at them for fighting! I had to make dinner for youth group...EPIC FAIL!! My husband took me out for dinner while the kids were at youth group...I WAS SO THANKFUL! After the kids were picked up, we watched This is Us and I went to bed! EXHAUSTED!  

This morning there was no fighting...no chaos...it was WONDERFUL!  We went down the mountain to get our groceries for our church Thanksgiving dinner and our home Thanksgiving dinner.  We left at 8:30 this morning and were home by 1:00...went to three stores...Costco, Winco and Cash and Carry...and even went out for lunch...picked up PIZZA from Papa Murphy's so I don't even have to cook!  AWESOME!!!

Came home and had a nap with the hubby...and now I'm bloggin!

This is a project I made for OnStage.  I joined three organized swaps.  One Birthday Card swap and two Over the Top Tag swaps. I also made about 75 cards (not this one) to swap with anyone else who swaped...a general swap! 

Here is the card that I created for the organized BIRTHDAY swap!

My card base is Basic Black and the first mat is Bermuda Bay. Next I scored five lines on a piece of Whisper White cardstock...evenly spaced, but not all the way up. Remember the snowflake Christmas card I shared a while back...same technique (it was back on September 27 if you want to see it!).  I used the Happy Birthday Thinlits but separated the HAPPY from the BIRTHDAY...cool thing...I can use the cut away BIRTHDAY just by using a HAPPY stamp! I glued HAPPY down with Multipurpose glue and stamped BIRTHDAY underneath. I used the Balloon punch to punch balloons in Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay.  After punching the balloons, I embossed them with my Softly Falling embossing folder. I tied a piece of Silver Metallic Thread around the Bermuda Bay balloon to finish it off! The balloons are layered over each other, one above each line and attached with dimensionals! I LOVE the colors used in this card...they are FABULOUS combination!!!

For a little bit of fun on the inside of my card I simply scored one short line on the side and added an embossed balloon with dimensionals!

My kids are off school this week and my adult kids are coming home, so I plan  to just enjoy them while they are here! I might sneek out and do a little creating, but I'll be sharing my favorite swap creations with you over the next week. Believe me...you don't want to miss them!
