Hello there! Hope your Thursday is GREAT!!! I'm getting a slow start today! Slept in...no gym (my kids are off this week...so I guess mom is too!) My class was great yesterday! I had 15 wonderful ladies and it was so fun to hear their stories about the SNOW STORM IN REDDING last week! Redding doesn't usually get much snow...hardly any! Last week they got a FOOT of snow, some places got 1 1/2' and one gal said they had about 2'! They got more snow than me and I live in the mountains! It was crazy! Anyway...it was fun to listen to them visit and chat I think that took about the first 20 minutes of class and I loved it. RELATIONSHIPS are what are important and cards/papercrafting is the vehicle to making those relationships! I am blessed!
Today, I want to share another card from my February classes! THANK YOUR for allowing me to share what I love to do...with you!! ENJOY!!
This card is similar to one of my #simplestamping cards...I just stepped it up a notch! It was inspired by two special people who brought hollyhocks into my life!
I LOVE hollyhocks...my dad loved hollyhocks (they grew wild where he grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska) and a dear girlfriend who passed in 2000 loved hollyhocks...so this card holds a lot of emotion for me. I had harvested a bunch of hollyhock seeds from my girlfriends BEAUTIFUL garden to plant in my garden. When she passed unexpectedly at 40, I made little seed packets with those seeds to give to everyone who came to celebrate her life. That way, everyone could have a little piece of her! Sadly, I moved from that house and don't have those flowers from her garden anymore...but I have the memories and I still grow hollyhocks.
Anyway...I LOVE this card for so many reasons! I hope you do too! Here's how it was created!
My card base is a 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" piece of Whisper White cardstock and the first mat is a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Calypso Coral cardstock. I embossed it with the Subtle embossing folder. This is a MUST HAVE embossing folder in my mind!
Next I cut a rectangle with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and used the First Frost stamp set to create the hollyhock. I started with the stem...stamping it in Pear Pizzazz ink and added the flowers one at a time with Calypso Coral ink. These stamps are deeply etched to give you the look of two-step stamping without the work! I LOVE THEM!! Last, I added a bow with the Calypso Coral Ombre Ribbon and attached the stamped image with dimensionals! Isn't it pretty?
That's it...I hope you're feeling INSPIRED to CREATE! Have a WONDERFUL day and THANKS BUNCHES for stopping by!
