Tuesday’s Tip - Adding Color to Ribbon

Hey there everyone!  How are things going?  Have you had much time to create lately?  I've had a bunch of time but haven't gotten out to my workshop!  CRAZY...I've been in a weird space this past week and just wanted to stay in the house and nap!  Maybe I've been fighting something off...but really I think it's menapause!  I haven't been sleeping well and those dang hot flashes are back!  I know HATE is a strong word, but I HATE HOT FLASHES!!! I was trying this Cal/Mag/Zinc drink to help with sleeping, but it was making me feel croggy in the mornings.  My daughter gave it to me and told me to just drink half instead...so I guess we'll see!  The last two nights I haven't used anything and I've slept really good and feel like my old self again...so today I'm back in my workshop and I made a Tuesday's Tip video! ENJOY!!

"Make- It Monday" Waterfront

Hello everyone!  How was your weekend?  It sure went by fast!  It was wonderful having most of my children home...and their doggies!!  Today it's blue skies and gorgeous!  It's so nice in fact, that we're actually gonna get a baseball game in!  I LOVE watching baseball...especially when I have a player!  My son, Adam, plays first base, third base and pitcher! I CAN'T WAIT!! The weatherman is calling for rain and snow for the rest of the week so we probably won't get our Friday game in. I'm grateful the sun is shining today!

I have a FANTASTIC "Make-It Monday" to share with you today!  It's made with one of my FAVORITE stamp sets....Waterfront!  I'm having a class at my workshop in Weaverville on April 14th to make six totally different cards with this set!  Today's is BEAUTIFUL, but won't be in the class! "Make-It Monday": Waterfront card created with Stampin' Up! products

Supplies:
Stamp Sets:  Waterfront (p 146386), Beautiful Day (w 145912, c 145915)
Inks:  Basic Black (140931)
Paper: Watercolor Paper (122959), Whisper White (100730), Basic Black (121045), Tangerine Tango (119349)
Other: Brusho Crystal Colour (144101), Aqua Painters (103954), White Stampin’ Chalk Marker (132133), Whisper White ¼” Organza Ribbon (145590), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), SNAIL Adhesive (104332)

Measurements:

• Whisper White:  8 ½” x 5 ½ “
• Watercolor Paper: 3 1/8” x 2”  
• Tangerine Tango: 3 3/8” x 2 1/8”
• Basic Black:  3 ½ x 2 3/8”
• Ribbon:  14”
   

Instructions:

1. Use your Aqua Painter to wet your watercolor paper.
2. Sprinkle some of the Yellow, some of the Gamboge, and the Brilliant Red Brusho on the paper.
3. Use your Aqua Painter to spread the Brusho around.  Let the piece dry.
4. Stamp the trees with Basic Black ink on the Watercolor piece.  Let them dry.
5. Use your chalk marker to outline one side of the trees.  Let them dry.
6. Stamp the saying on the bottom of the folded card base.
7. Attach the stamped piece to the Tangerine Tango cardstock and the Basic Black cardstock. 
8. Tie the ribbon around the card base and tie into a knot on the right side of the card.
9. Attach the stamped piece to the front of the card with dimensionals.

Remember, you do not have to invent the wheel to be creative, just copy this project! Did you make it with your own hands? Then you have created!

Let the Good Times Roll

Hello and Happy Friday!  Are you ready for your weekend? I sure am!  My children are all coming up...well...except for two, our daughter and her husband will be in Portland, Oregon for a job interview on Monday!  They are all coming up  because their dad is sharing a sermon at our church on Sunday.  He is not a pastor, he's a power lineman, but our pastor is getting home from a trip to Israel and my husband is standing in for him. I'm nervous and excited all at once!  I LOVE that my kids want to come home...it's such a blessing and I LOVE that my husband has accepted this call to step out of his comfort zone. 

Real quick I want to share a card that I made because one of my gals wants me to make it in a monthly class! I really LOVE the card, but not sure how to incorporate it into a class as is SUPER time consuming and tedious and just PLAIN DIFFICULT!!  Below is my card and below that is one of the video's that I watched...which is VERY REAL!!! 

After you watch the video you will totally understand why Wendy calls it THE CUSSING CARD! It's a FABULOUS card, but you MUST BE PATIENT!!

Magical Day

Good Morning everyone! What's going on in your neck of the woods? I'm sitting at my computer, looking out my window...watching the snow fall! I love the quietness of the snow and love the peaceful feeling it brings as I watch it fall....it's BEAUTIFUL!  We have about three inches so far and I'm hoping our weather reports are wrong and it doesn't turn to snow this afternoon! For now...it's coming down strong and I'm ENJOYING every minute of it!

Today I have a FUN card to share with you!  It was inspired by a couple of other cards...I hope YOU will be INSPIRED!

The above cards are my inspiration!  I participated in a Facebook Hop last week and the theme was Three Shades of Green.  I wanted something that wasn't for St. Patrick's Day so I made this birthday card using the Color Theory Designer Paper Pack.  The other adorable card was shared on a team Facebook page and is created by Lorri Heiling at Confessions of a Stamping Addict...it is so clever! Below is how I brought them both together!

 

My card base is Whisper White with a 4" X 5 1/4" layer of Dapper Denim on top. My next layer is a 3 3/4" X 5" piece of Whisper White cardstock that I sponged at the top with Pool Party Ink.  To make the waves I cut 4" X 5 1/2" pieces of Tranquil Tide, Dapper Denim, Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party card stock and embossed them using the Seaside Textured Embossing Folder.  Next, I used my 3/4" punch to make the circles.  I attached the Pool Party layer with Snail adhesive and the rest I attached with dimensionals to give the water depth.  The mermaids are created with the Magical Day Bundle.  I stamped and cut three mermaids with the Magical Mates Thinlits which are part of the bundle and then colored them with my Stampin' Blend Pens.  The sun and the clouds are cut using the Thrill Ride Pop-up Thinlits. Don't forget to add a little something to the inside of  your card and envelope!  I stamped some bubbles and a seahorse!  I really LOVE how this card turned out...it's CUTE and FUN!  I also think it will make a FUN scrapbook page...my youngest daughter LOVED Ariel and dressed as a mermaid three years in a row for trick-or-treating so I'll be putting a scrapbook page together soon!

Lots of Lavender = Wisteria

Good morning everyone! I'm just hanging out this morning waiting to go to a doctors appointment with my mother-in-law. She fell and broke her shoulder before Christmas and her physical therapist wants her to see a specialist. It's her right shoulder and she's right handed and she can't even lift her arm high enough to do her hair. We're praying she will get more mobility, but not sure.  I makes me appreciate my arms...I often think what would I do if I couldn't create? I would miss it terribly. I'm grateful for my health!

Today I want to share my favorite card from my March classes with you! I hope you LOVE it as much as I do!

I really LOVE this card!  It's made with the Lots of Lavender stamp set that you can get FREE with a $50 purchase (before tax and shipping) during SU's Sale-A-Bration event!  Sadly it ends March 31st so don't miss out! My card base is Elegant Eggplant with the first layer a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Old Olive cardstock.  My images are stamped onto a piece of 3 3/4" X 5" piece of Whisper White cardstock. I first inked the outline stamp of the  lavender (which I turned into wisteria) in Elegant Eggplant (not black) then I used the filler stamps (two-step stamping) to fill in the petals in Wisteria Wonder and the leaves in Old Olive.  The sentiment is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set.  I tied a bow with Whisper White 1/4" Organza Ribbon. Next I tied a Petal Passion metal leaf embellishment around the white bow with a piece of Linen Thread. I'm sure you can tell I love that look because I use it often!  Don't forget to add a little "wisteria" to the inside of your card and to your envelop! Isn't it lovely?!

Tuesday’s Tip - Brusho Crystal Colors and Beautiful Day

Hello everyone!  Welcome to Tuesday's Tip! Well...thank goodness my daughter had a minimum day today!  She was able to help me upload my video!  I've been trying ALL morning to do it...I even video taped a second version (this one) directly onto YouTube hoping it would upload faster...but it did not!  I was STUCK at 54% uploaded for about 4 hours...SOOOOOO FRUSTRATING!  Thankfully she showed me an easier way to do it! I sure do hope I can remember how next week!

Here goes...I hope you'll be inspired to use our new Stampin' UP! Brusho Crystals to add color to your creations!!

Heart Happiness

Good morning my crafty friends! I hope you all had a GREAT weekend and that you enjoyed every minute of it!  I'm so excited, I have a couple of girlfriends coming over this morning to play so I get to be out in my workshop ALL morning and early afternoon! Plus it's birthday week for one of my girlfriends so we'll have a special lunch!  FUN TIMES!

It's "Make-It Monday" time and I have a fun one to share with you! One might think it's a Valentines day card, but I think it's a great card just to say I love you!  I also thinks the Color Theory Designer Paper makes a FANTASTIC background for this card!  Hope you are INSPIRED!!!

Supplies: Stamp Sets -  Heart Happiness (photopolymer 145769); Lovely Friends (photopolymer 143763) Card Stock – Whisper White (100730) Stamp Pads – Tuxedo Black Memento (132708); Berry Burst (144083) Miscellaneous – Color Theory Designer Paper Stack (144193); Big Shot (143263); Sweet & Sassy Framelits (141707); Sponge Daubers (133773); Basic Black Metallic Thread (141695); Glitter Enamel Dots (144200); Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430)         Measurements:   Whisper White (base): 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½” and folded in half Whisper White – scraps Designer Paper (Berry Burst ombre pattern) – 4 ¼” x 5 ½” Metallic Thread – 23” Instructions: Adhere the designer paper to the card base. Stamp the greeting “love” using Memento ink, slightly off center on the card base. Be sure to leave enough room so the heart will fit. Stamp the striped heart on white scrap cardstock using Memento ink.  Cut out using your scissors.  Place a generous amount of Dimensionals on the back of the heart.
