WOW!!! One week of summer vacation for my kiddos has already passed! I need to get on the ball and take them on some hikes and fun day trips! My husband and I have decided to let our twelve year old son play on a traveling baseball team this summer...it's taking up more time then I realized it would...but it should be a lot of fun! One good thing is their first tournament is on the coast...so we'll BEAT THE HEAT for a couple of days...and I hope to pop in to my one of my favorite places while I'm there...Scrappers Edge, in Eureka, California!
I've been wanting to try the bokeh technique for a very long time. The dictionary defines bokeh as a Japanese term for the subjective aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas of a photographic image...the Urban Dictionary defines it as a trick in photography where one part of the photo is in focus and the rest isn't, so attention is drawn to the subject. That out-of focus area is called bokeh. I finally tried it and today I'm sharing my creation with you!
I used the Kinda Eclectic and Oh My Goodies stamp sets for this card. The colors I chose are Lost Lagoon, Soft Sky and Very Vanilla for my paper and Island Indigo, Soft Sky, Whisper White Craft and Memento Black.
I cut a piece of water color paper (3 3/4" X 5") and used my re-inkers to put one drop of Soft Sky towards the top and one drop of Island Indigo towards the bottom. I then used my Aqua Painter to spread the color out for my background. The blurred circles come from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set which I inked with Whisper White Craft Ink. The sentiment is from the Oh My Goodies stamp set.
At first I thought the card needed MORE...but then I began to appreciate the simplicity of it. I don't think the bokeh effect would show as much if I added much more. It was a really fun technique...I can't wait to do more! There is ALWAYS...ALWAYS...ALWAYS something new I want to learn and try!
